Share or Rental Accommodation

  • Students over 18 may share or rent an apartment or house.

The Department of Home Affairshas financial requirements you must meet in order to receive a student visa for Australia. From 1st February 2018 the 12 month living cost, including accommodation, and other living expenses is approximately AU$20,290 (~US$14.000) per year.


If you are taking a short program, for example a language course, of maximum 12 weeks you can use a tourist visa. If you have a Working Holiday visa you are allowed to study for 16 weeks. For university studies and all longer programs you will need to apply for a student visa. But, If you are going to study in Australia for a longer period of time you will need to apply for a student visa.
